How Does Conscious Sedation Work in Our Office? You take a small pill at your home an hour prior to your dental appointment. Your designated driver accompanies you to our office. When you arrive, you will be very drowsy.
At our office you will be escorted into a very comfortable room, covered with a thick, warm blanket and placed on a monitor to watch your vital signs. When you are completely comfortable, Dr. Flax and his team will begin restoring your smile and improving your health.
After your treatment is completed, your designated driver will return you home and you will enjoy a comfortable, relaxing day. Conscious Sedation Dentistry: Facts
- It Really Works! The medication you take has helped thousands of patients sleep better for over 15 years.
- It’s Safe! You take a small pill prior to treatment. There are no intravenous tubes or needles. Furthermore, we carefully monitor your well being and vital signs with a pulse-oximeter.
- More Comfort: It reduces the fatigue of extended dental treatment that required long visits. You need less pain medication than most significant treatments.
- Fewer Memories: You won't remember any sounds or smells. Actually, you will have very little or no memory of the experience.
- Rest Comfortably Afterward: Patients often sleep for up to five or six hours after taking the pill. However, the time you actually sleep varies depending on your needed treatment.
- Saves Time: Significant dental treatments – requiring six to eight appointments in the past – can now be done in as little as one! All while you sleep.
- More Effective: Those who have difficulty getting numb find that Sedation Dentistry eliminates this problem.
