In the thick of summer fun, foggy goggles can be something swimmers everywhere struggle trying to avoid. Look no further because there is a simple solution waiting to help you out right in your own bathroom drawer.
Of course you are reaching for your tube of toothpaste every morning and every night, but did you know there are some additional ways to use toothpaste around the house? Yes, it’s been said that toothpaste can minimize the dreaded foggy goggles and much more.
Traditional, non-gel, white toothpaste has the perfect mix of ingredients to work some real magic in many different ways beyond keeping your teeth healthy. Here are a few of our favorites.
5 unexpected ways to use toothpaste
1. Prevent Foggy Goggles
From swim goggles to safety glasses, a foggy lens can be annoying, distracting, and even dangerous. A surprisingly easy quick fix is to smear toothpaste on the inside of the lenses and then gently wipe it off. This also works to prevent fogging of bathroom mirrors or shower mirrors. Once the item has it’s next chance to fog, you will be “clearly” impressed.
2. Remove Watermarks
ou have seen what happens when water and wood meet for too long. A drink glass on a coffee table without a coaster can leave an unsightly watermark. With just a dab of non gel toothpaste and a soft rag, you can wipe the watermark right off and give the wood back its natural beauty. The shine will be as bright as your freshly brushed teeth.
3. Shine Chrome
While there are many products available in the cleaning aisle of the grocery store offering the small amount of abrasiveness mixed with polishing agents to put the sparkle back on chrome, the same can be accomplished by toothpaste. Apply the toothpaste to the grimy chrome and use a soft, clean cloth to polish.
4. Shoe Polish
We’ve all been there – you go to put on your favorite shoes before an important event and there is a big scuff across the toe. You need a quick and handy fix — so reach for your non gel toothpaste to save the day. Dab a small amount of toothpaste on the scuffed area and rub gently with a soft, dry towel for a shiny new shoe.
5. Clean Jewelry
You want your special pieces of jewelry to look their best and really sparkle. A quick and easy way to bring that special shine back to your favorite ring, earrings, necklace, or other treasured jewel is to use an old toothbrush with a small amount of toothpaste. Brush gently and wipe off with a damp cloth. As you wipe off the toothpaste, you will see your jewel come back to life with renewed glow. Then you will smile and we always love things that make you smile.
Bonus: Classic April Fool’s Day prank
