Richard A. Smith, DDS
Dr. Richard A. Smith is a general dentist in North Atlanta, GA. In addition to general dentistry, he has dedicated the primary focus of his practice towards treating complex restorative dental cases often involving aesthetic and implant dentistry.
After completing his undergraduate education at Auburn University, Dr. Smith obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry. He then completed post-graduate training at the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Clinical Dentistry.
Prior to opening his private practice in North Atlanta in 1974, Dr. Smith practiced in the United States Air Force for two years.
Throughout his dental career, he has received numerous awards, including the Georgia Dental Association’s Award of Merit, the Hinman Dental Society Gold Medallion and the Northern District Dental Society Dentist of the Year Award.
As a public lecturer, Dr. Smith has made formal presentations on various topics, including “The Future of the Dental Profession with or without the Government,” “Steps to a Balanced Occlusion,” and “Political Awareness as it Relates to Current Issues in Dentistry.”
Dr. Smith is a published author. His articles have appeared in such publications as theAmerican Dental Association News, Chicago Review and the L.D. Pankey Alumni News. He is a past editor of the Journal for the International College of Dentists and the GDA Action, a monthly journal published by the Georgia Dental Association.
He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists and the Atlanta Dental Study Group, and the Atlanta-Seattle Dental Study Club.
