About Us

About Our Atlanta Cosmetic Dental Office

To understand Dr. Flax, you need to know something of his upbringing. You see, he decided to become a dentist because of his mother. Not that his mother loved dentistry—she hated it. She had a tremendous fear of the dentist. She also received very poor treatment and had to have her dental work re-done multiple times. So Hugh Flax, as a young boy, vowed to become a dentist and to help as many people as he could avoid the awful experiences his mother had.

That’s what explains his passion for perfection. That’s why you find him taking almost eight times the required minimum of continuing education per year. That’s why he takes such pains to make sure you are comfortable, and that any smile he creates is absolutely gorgeous. That’s what drove him to polish his skills until he could become accredited with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, to earn his Mastership in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and his Associate Fellowship in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. And his passion extends well beyond his own practice. With the extensive knowledge that he has gained, he spends some of his weekends on the lecture circuit, traveling nationally and internationally teaching other dentists advanced techniques in cosmetic and restorative dentistry.

He also encourages his team to be as knowledgeable as possible, and each Flax Dental team member completes well above their required minimum number of continuing education hours each year.

We’ve been patients of this practice for 37 years and when we move to NC, we plan to return to Dr. Flax and his staff for our dental work because we feel so comfortable with him and his staff.

An Atlanta Cosmetic Dentist Who Loves Creating Beautiful Smiles

Dr. Flax’s two passions in dentistry are making you comfortable and making you smile. To achieve the second objective, he has invested a great deal of time and energy into cosmetic dentistry training. He has earned his accreditation with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a distinction achieved by only a few hundred dentists in the world. More than that, in 2010 he was chosen to serve as president of that organization.

If you can’t confidently answer, “Yes, I love my smile!” then Dr. Flax can help. Whether your teeth are chipped, discolored, crooked, or even completely missing, he’s seen it all.  A beautiful smile makes a memorable first impression and is intertwined in not only how you look, but how you feel about yourself. Discuss with him how you feel about your smile and he will help restore your self-confidence.
