Relax with Sedation Dentistry in Atlanta & Sandy Springs

Helping You Feel Calm and Comfortable at the Dentist

I understand that dental anxiety is very real — and it’s more common than most people realize. As a matter of fact, my own mother was terrified about going to the dentist and the main reason I got interested in dentistry as a career. Your comfort and trust matters a lot to me.

Sadly, fear of the dentist can prevent people from getting the care they need, which often makes small problems turn into bigger ones. My goal is to make sure anxiety never stands in the way of your oral health. That’s why I offer safe and effective sedation dentistry options in Sandy Springs and Atlanta.

With my training, advanced technology, and gentle approach, you can feel relaxed while getting the treatment you need for a healthy, confident smile.

How Dental Anxiety Affects Your Health

Skipping dental visits because of fear can do more harm than you might think:

  • Gum disease & cavities – Plaque builds up, causing issues that only worsen without treatment.
  • Tooth loss – Untreated problems can progress until teeth are lost.
  • More complex treatments – Simple fillings or cleanings can turn into root canals or extractions if delayed.
  • Overall health risks – Gum disease is linked to heart disease, diabetes, and more.

Choosing sedation dentistry allows you to get the care you need without fear — protecting both your smile and your overall health.

Who Benefits from Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation can help if you:

  • Feel anxious or fearful about dental visits
  • Have a sensitive gag reflex
  • Struggle with low pain tolerance
  • Need a lengthy or complex procedure

Sedation Options I Offer

At my practice, I use two safe and proven sedation methods:

  • Nitrous Oxide (“Laughing Gas”)
This mild sedative is inhaled through a mask during your visit. It helps you feel calm and relaxed, and the best part is the effects wear off almost immediately after treatment. You can drive yourself home and resume normal activities right away.
  • Oral Conscious Sedation
For deeper relaxation, I prescribe a pill you take before your appointment. You will get drowsy and sleepy while being responsive but you’ll feel calm and at ease. Because the effects can last for several hours, you’ll need someone to drive you to and from your visit.

Both options allow me to perform your treatment safely, while you remain relaxed and comfortable.

Sedation Dentistry FAQs

Is sedation dentistry safe?
Yes. I carefully review your medical history, medications, and health before recommending sedation. During treatment, I continuously monitor your breathing, heart rate, and oxygen levels for safety.

Will I be asleep?
No. With nitrous oxide, you’ll remain awake and aware. With oral conscious sedation, you’ll feel deeply relaxed, may get drowsy and sleepy, but still able to respond. Most patients remember little of the procedure and feel like time passed quickly.

How long does sedation last?
The effects of nitrous oxide wear off within minutes. Oral sedation can last for several hours, which is why you’ll need someone to drive you home afterward.

Can sedation help with a strong gag reflex?
Yes — sedation can calm your gag reflex, making procedures much more comfortable.

Will I feel pain during treatment?
With sedation and modern techniques, most patients feel little to no discomfort. My priority is always your comfort and peace of mind.
