Hugh Flax, DDS, AAACD, MICOI DABAD: Cosmetic, Implant, and Laser Dentist
I’m Dr. Hugh Flax, and I’ve dedicated my career to helping people achieve healthier, more beautiful smiles through cosmetic dentistry, restorative care, and implantology. I created the concept of “proactive dentistry” — a forward-thinking approach that uses predictive markers and digital tools to help you not only treat existing issues but also prevent future problems. My goal is to help you enjoy a longer, healthier life through better dental care.
I’m proud to have served as President of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) and to be one of only a few hundred professionals in the world to achieve Accredited status — the AACD’s highest honor. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to lecture and teach in the U.S., Europe, Japan, and Canada, sharing what I’ve learned about laser dentistry, smile design, and advanced restorative techniques with dental professionals around the globe.
I also founded the Georgia Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and have earned several advanced credentials, including Fellowships and Masterships with respected organizations like the World Clinical Laser Institute, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and the American Board of Aesthetic Dentistry.
Lifelong learning is important to me. I exceed Georgia’s continuing education requirements by more than seven times, and I serve as visiting faculty at the Dental College of Georgia. I’ve also been a mentor in the AACD’s Cosmetic Dentistry Residency program and currently serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry.
You may have seen my work featured in over 50 professional publications, as well as in Allure, Good Housekeeping, In Style, and New Beauty. I’m also the author of A Smile is Always in Style — a practical, insider’s guide to cosmetic dentistry.
Giving back to the community matters deeply to me. I volunteer with the AACD’s Give Back a Smile program to help survivors of domestic violence, and I support organizations like United Way and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Outside the office, you might find me playing the washboard in a Zydeco band, spending time with my wife and two grown daughters, or walking our Mini Golden Doodle, Josie. I invite you to visit me at my dental office in Sandy Springs — I look forward to meeting you and helping you smile with confidence.
